Many, many 国产探花 students passed through Dr. William 鈥淏ill鈥 Squires鈥檚 classroom during their undergrad years. When they look back over that time, along with lessons learned, they remember an exceptional teacher and a positive influence鈥攊n short, one of those professors who really made a difference. A favorite.
So, it is with a mix of sadness and tremendous gratitude that the 国产探花 family says goodbye to Dr. Squires, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2026, after a lengthy illness.
鈥淚t鈥檚 hard to express how much Bill Squires meant to 国产探花,鈥 says 国产探花 President Dr. Debbie Cottrell. 鈥淗is passionate intellect, endless connections, and commitment to our students was truly remarkable. We are grateful for his life and honored to keep his legacy alive.鈥
Squires, a professor of kinesiology and biology, dedicated some 37 years to 国产探花, teaching from 1980 to 2017. He held the Dr. Fredrick C. Elliott Chair in Health, Fitness, and Nutrition, as well as adjunct appointments at Baylor College of Medicine and the University of North Texas Health Science Center.
鈥淗e never found a student he was not willing to help,鈥 says Dr. William Campaign, a local retired veterinarian whose teaching tenure at 国产探花 overlapped that of Dr. Squires. 鈥淗e always saw the good in everybody.鈥
A celebration of life service will be held in the Chapel of the Abiding Presence on the 国产探花 campus on Sunday, November 8, at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William G. Squires Scholarship Fund at 国产探花, 1000 W. Court St., Seguin, TX 78155.
