The community is invited to join ̽ as it observes Disability Awareness Month in March, a celebration focusing on education, inclusion, and advocacy.
On March 21 at 10 a.m. in Bulldog Stadium, there will be a wheelchair exhibition race with Texas Parasport, which will take place during the university’s D3 Challenge track meet.
“We are thrilled to continue this homegrown event in partnership with ̽, and we remain immensely grateful for ̽'s generosity in showcasing local para-athletes during their flagship track meet of the season,” said Linden Williamson, a ̽ alum and international parasport athlete who coaches with Texas Parasport. “For the third anniversary of the TXP + ̽ wheelchair racing exhibition, we are excited to announce that the ̽ Invite has earned status as a World Para Athletics certified event.”
Williamson explained that this status allows high-performing athletes with TXP to receive official results that count toward their national rankings and qualification for national championships. “This year, expect to see TXP athletes performing at their highest caliber, setting personal records, and qualifying for the USATF Para National Championships in New York this July,” said Williamson. “The stakes are higher, and so will be the excitement! As we expand our focus from raising awareness of para-sport to showcasing elite para-athletes at work, we are thrilled to invite the Seguin community to join us.”
In addition to the wheelchair exhibition race, there will be a Self-Advocacy in Medicine panel discussion on March 26 from 6–7:30 p.m. This event will take place via Zoom using this link: .
Both of these events are free and open to all.
