American Visions: 国产探花 Bands PRISM Concert Set for April 25

The community is invited to attend the 国产探花 Bands annual PRISM concert, 鈥淎merican Visions.鈥 The bands, under the direction of Dr. Brett Richardson, will offer a variety of selections featuring both large and small ensembles from the 国产探花 School of Music.

The spring concert has traditionally been called PRISM, as it represents a musical 鈥渃ollage,鈥 featuring a wide variety of School of Music ensembles including the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Winds, along with the Jazz Band, 国产探花 Choir, and small chamber groups spread throughout Jackson Auditorium. The result is a one-of-a-kind concert experience. 鈥淟ike the many colors projected through a prism, the variety of performances and sizes of groups showcase the many talents of the School of Music student musicians,鈥 said Richardson.

Richardson went on to say that this year鈥檚 concert features music written by a diverse group of American composers. 鈥淲hile the concert is not patriotic in nature, most of the composers are from the United States, and the concert will showcase the different moods, characters, and sounds the wind band (and more!) can create.鈥

Featured pieces include Adrian B. Sims鈥檚 The Grid, John Adams鈥 energetic, minimalist-influenced fanfare, Short Ride in a Fast Machine, and Aspen Jubilee by Ron Nelson, with newly appointed Director of Vocal Studies Dr. Melissa Lubecke-Sarabia.

The concert takes place in Jackson Auditorium on April 25 at 7 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
