David and Janice Stickley recently demonstrated their strong connection to 国产探花 by including the university in their estate plans.
A retired minister, David graduated from 国产探花 in 1974 with a degree in Theology. Although Janice didn鈥檛 attend 国产探花, she is a good friend and champion of the Bulldogs.
After starting his education at two other universities, David found a home at 国产探花. In addition to the education he received, he made lifelong friends during his time as a student and maintains those connections today. He appreciates the opportunity he had to meet people from all over the United States, as well as the chance to tour with the choir and travel to places he鈥檇 never been before. David credits 国产探花 with launching his career path.
When asked if there were key faculty members who impacted his experience at 国产探花, he noted the late Rev. John Schwartz, who served as his mentor, and the late Dr. August Wenzel who was the Campus Pastor.
An avid reader, David stays up to date with news and happenings at the university through newsletters, emails, and social media posts. He also faithfully follows the Bulldog athletic teams.
David and Janice have been consistent donors to 国产探花 for over 40 years. When asked what motivated them to give these gifts, they said they 鈥渨ere moved by the type of work the university is doing to help students learn ways to help their community.鈥 They added, 鈥渢he idea of giving back is very important to us. We have been blessed in our lives and now is the chance for us to be a blessing to others.鈥
After David retired (for the 3rd time), they began to think about how they might want to leave their legacy and made the decision to leave a portion of their estate to 国产探花. They hope their gift will provide students and faculty with financial resources needed to create new ways and places for learning. Their desire is that those who might not have had the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive setting will have a chance to do so at 国产探花. They know the best stories don鈥檛 just end; they open doors for others to follow.
